Overview

P17 peptide refers to several distinct research compounds rather than a single therapeutic agent. One version is a cationic antimicrobial peptide (AMP) isolated from the venom of the ant *Tetramorium bicarinatum* (sequence: LFKEILEKIKAKL-NH2), which functions as an immunomodulator by activating macrophages and exhibits antifungal activity against *Candida albicans*. A second version is a 15-mer peptide (CAS 846546-36-9) that acts as a Transforming Growth Factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) inhibitor; it has been investigated in preclinical models for treating chronic hepatitis B and choroidal neovascularization. A third compound, often referred to as Peptide 17, is studied for its ability to mitigate hypertensive renal injury by modulating the Hippo/YAP signaling pathway. These compounds are currently used in laboratory research and have not reached clinical approval.
