P2202

P2202 (also referred to as P-2202) is a small molecule drug that acts as an inhibitor of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (11β-HSD). It was initially developed by Eli Lilly and later by Piramal Enterprises. The drug was investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in overweight or obese patients whose condition was inadequately controlled with metformin and/or sulfonylurea. Its mechanism involves inhibition of the 11β-HSD enzyme, which plays a role in glucocorticoid metabolism and is implicated in metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Clinical development reached phase II trials but has since been discontinued[6][1].
