P28R is a first-in-class immunotherapy peptide being developed by CanImGuide Therapeutics AB. It acts as an antagonist of the Lymphocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1) receptor. The drug's mechanism of action involves blocking the interaction between LFA-1 on immune cells and immunosuppressive albumin metabolites produced within the tumor microenvironment. By preventing these metabolites from deactivating T-cells, P28R aims to restore immune cell penetration and anti-tumor activity.
