P2Et is a standardized plant extract derived from Caesalpinia spinosa, rich in gallotannins and other polyphenols. It exhibits potent antioxidant activity and has demonstrated antitumor effects in preclinical models of breast cancer and melanoma. Mechanistically, P2Et induces immunogenic cell death in tumor cells by promoting mitochondrial depolarization and apoptosis, leading to the expression of immunogenic markers such as calreticulin, HMGB1, and ATP. This process enhances dendritic cell activation and stimulates a robust adaptive immune response characterized by increased memory T lymphocytes producing IFN-gamma, TNF-alpha, IL-2, IL-4, and IL-5. In animal models, it reduces primary tumor growth and metastasis while modulating the tumor microenvironment—specifically decreasing serum IL-6 levels associated with protumorigenic fibroblast activity. Clinical studies are evaluating its safety and efficacy as an adjunct to chemotherapy (notably anthracyclines) in breast cancer patients[4][5][2].
