Drug intelligence / Profile preview
P2X7-CAR T cells (including those targeting the non-functional variant nfP2X7) are chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies designed to target the P2X7 purinergic receptor, an ATP-gated ion channel that is aberrantly expressed or in a non-functional conformation (nfP2X7) on various cancer cells while remaining largely absent or inaccessible on healthy tissues. Developed by companies like Biosceptre and Carina Biotech, these cell therapies aim to provide a broad-spectrum, highly selective treatment for solid tumors (such as ovarian, breast, prostate, and lung cancers) and hematological malignancies by inducing antigen-specific cytotoxicity and tumor cell lysis without damaging normal tissues.
