Overview

P311, also known as Neuronal regeneration related protein (NREP) or Neural protein 3.1, is an 8 kDa intracellular protein/peptide that plays a significant role in tissue repair and regeneration. It promotes angiogenesis, re-epithelialization, and M2 macrophage polarization, which are crucial for effective wound healing. Its functions are mediated through interactions with several signaling pathways, including the TGF-βRII-Smad, Akt, and mTOR pathways, and by upregulating factors like the IL-4 receptor and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). P311 is being investigated as a therapeutic agent, particularly in formulations like microspheres and micelles, to enhance wound healing.
