Overview

p38γ RNAi refers to RNA interference (RNAi) agents, such as small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs), designed to selectively silence the expression of p38γ (mitogen-activated protein kinase 12, or MAPK12). p38γ is an isoform of the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) family. In research settings, particularly in oncology, p38γ RNAi is utilized to investigate the role of p38γ in cancer progression, cell motility, invasion, and metastasis. Knockdown of p38γ in aggressive breast cancer cell lines has been shown to impair cell motility and metastasis, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target. Currently, p38γ RNAi is primarily employed as a laboratory research tool rather than an approved clinical therapeutic.
