Overview

P4M01-IBS is an investigational antimicrobial peptide-based therapy being developed by P4 Microbiome for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The drug candidate is a formulation of P4M01, which contains the synthetic decapeptide KSL-W (KKVVFWVKFK-NH2), originally developed by the US Army. KSL-W is a cationic antimicrobial peptide designed to address dysbiosis by targeting and disrupting bacterial cell membranes. In the context of IBS, P4M01-IBS is intended to selectively target pathogenic bacteria and restore a healthy gut microbiome. The candidate is currently in preclinical development.
