**p53 peptide vaccine** is a nonproprietary descriptor for investigational therapeutic cancer vaccines composed of peptide epitope sequences derived from tumor protein p53. In the National Cancer Institute breast and ovarian cancer studies, the vaccine was intended to induce cellular immune responses against tumor cells that overexpress or harbor abnormalities in p53; protocols evaluated peptide vaccination by subcutaneous administration or delivery of peptide-pulsed autologous cells intravenously, with immune-modulating agents such as low-dose interleukin-2 used separately in the treatment regimen.
