Overview

P7C3-S243 is a neuroprotective small molecule from the aminopropyl carbazole class, designed as a more drug-like, potent, and non-toxic derivative of the original P7C3 compound, lacking the aniline ring present in some earlier analogs. It acts by blocking neuronal apoptosis, thereby promoting neuronal survival, primarily through enhancing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) flux via activation of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase. P7C3-S243 is orally bioavailable, metabolically stable, brain-penetrant, and effective in multiple preclinical animal models of neurodegenerative diseases—especially Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and traumatic brain injury. It preserves axonal integrity, blocks neurodegeneration, and mitigates cognitive decline, with demonstrated efficacy and safety in both mice and rats[1][2][4][5][6][7][8][10].
