Drug intelligence / Profile preview
P9-RI is a retro-inverso (RI) modified peptide derived from *Oxalobacter formigenes* (specifically from the Sel1-like protein OxBSel1-14). It is being developed by the University of Chicago and its spinout Oxalo Therapeutics for the treatment of hyperoxaluria, hyperoxalemia, and related calcium oxalate kidney stones. P9-RI is designed to be completely resistant to proteolytic degradation by enzymes such as trypsin, proteinase K, and colonic lavage fluid, while retaining the ability to stimulate intestinal oxalate transport. It acts by stimulating colonic oxalate secretion via the oxalate transporters SLC26A6 and SLC26A2 in a protein kinase A (PKA)-dependent pathway.
