Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PA-1-STK is a gene-modified ovarian carcinoma cell line designed to deliver the Herpes Simplex Virus thymidine kinase (HSV-tk) gene. It functions as a vaccine, intended to be administered intrapleurally in conjunction with ganciclovir. The delivered HSV-tk gene makes the target cells sensitive to ganciclovir, which is then converted into a toxic metabolite, leading to an antitumor effect, particularly in malignant mesothelioma.
