Overview

PA-MSHA is a therapeutic biological product derived from an inactivated mutant strain of *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* characterized by rich mannose-sensitive hemagglutination pili (type 1 fimbriae). It is approved in China as an adjuvant treatment for malignant tumors. The drug has demonstrated direct anti-tumor effects, including inhibition of tumor cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis in various cancer cell lines such as hepatocarcinoma, nasopharyngeal cancer, and breast cancer. Mechanistically, PA-MSHA stimulates immune cell infiltration into the tumor microenvironment and induces inflammation within tumors. It also modulates EGFR signaling pathways—particularly through a mannose-mediated mechanism—and enhances the efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors like gefitinib by promoting apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. The agent is being explored both as monotherapy and in combination with other immunotherapies or targeted therapies to overcome drug resistance in cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)[1][4][5][7].
