Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PA5108 is a biodegradable ocular implant designed to deliver sustained release of latanoprost free acid (FA) for approximately 26 weeks. The implant utilizes PolyActiva's proprietary Prezia™ Sustained Drug Delivery Technology to release a constant daily dose of latanoprost with zero-order kinetics. It is delivered to the anterior segment through a delivery device, where the polymer rod falls into the angle of the eye. Unlike other ocular implants, PA5108 completely dissolves after drug delivery, leaving no residue behind, which allows for repeat dosing. This addresses the challenge of poor patient adherence with traditional eye drop therapy for glaucoma treatment.
