Overview

Pabrinex is a high-potency combination pharmaceutical product containing water-soluble vitamins B and C, formulated for intravenous or intramuscular administration. It is primarily used for the rapid treatment of severe depletion or malabsorption of these vitamins, particularly in clinical situations such as alcoholism (notably to prevent or treat Wernicke's encephalopathy), after acute infections, post-operatively, in certain psychiatric states, and to maintain vitamin levels in patients on long-term intermittent haemodialysis. The mechanism of action involves direct supplementation of essential coenzymes required for energy metabolism and cellular function. Each treatment dose consists of two ampoules: - Ampoule 1 contains thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1), riboflavin sodium phosphate (vitamin B2), and pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6). - Ampoule 2 contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C), nicotinamide (a form of vitamin B3), and glucose monohydrate. Pabrinex corrects deficiencies by providing immediate bioavailable forms of these vitamins necessary for neurological function, redox reactions, DNA repair, neurotransmitter synthesis, and other metabolic processes[3][5][6][7].
