Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PACAP-targeting antibodies are a class of monoclonal antibodies designed to bind to and inhibit pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP), a neuropeptide implicated in the pathophysiology of migraine and other pain disorders. By neutralizing PACAP, these antibodies prevent it from activating its receptors (PAC1, VPAC1, and VPAC2), thereby inhibiting vasodilation and neuroinflammatory signaling. This therapeutic class represents a novel, calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP)-independent pathway for migraine prevention and is also being investigated for conditions like opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH) and medication overuse headache (MOH).
