Overview

This treatment strategy refers to a specific sequential combination regimen evaluated by the Japan Breast Cancer Research Group (JBCRG) in the Phase II INDUCE trial (JBCRG-M10). The regimen is designed for patients with PD-L1-positive metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC). It consists of an induction phase of two cycles of paclitaxel and bevacizumab, followed by a maintenance phase of atezolizumab and nab-paclitaxel. The rationale behind the induction phase is to potentially prime the tumor microenvironment and enhance the efficacy of subsequent immunotherapy. The regimen combines microtubule stabilization (paclitaxel and nab-paclitaxel), anti-angiogenesis (bevacizumab targeting VEGF-A), and immune checkpoint inhibition (atezolizumab targeting PD-L1).
