Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination chemotherapy regimen was investigated in a Phase I clinical trial conducted at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for the treatment of advanced, recurrent, or metastatic cancers, including solid tumors, leukemia, and lymphoma. The regimen consists of four components: **paclitaxel**, a microtubule-stabilizing small molecule that inhibits cell division; **carboplatin**, a platinum-based antineoplastic agent that induces DNA cross-linking and apoptosis; **amifostine**, a cytoprotective prodrug administered to reduce the cumulative renal and hematologic toxicities associated with chemotherapy; and **filgrastim** (G-CSF), a recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor used to stimulate white blood cell production and support immune recovery. The trial was designed as a dose-escalation study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of this modulated combination in patients with advanced malignancies.
