Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of two chemotherapy drugs (paclitaxel and carboplatin) plus an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (epoetin alfa). The paclitaxel-carboplatin combination destroys rapidly dividing cancer cells and is used to treat various solid tumors including ovarian, lung, and breast cancers. Epoetin alfa is added to prevent or treat chemotherapy-induced anemia by stimulating red blood cell production, reducing the need for blood transfusions and helping maintain quality of life during treatment.
