Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four agents: - **Paclitaxel** (a microtubule-stabilizing agent that inhibits cell division by promoting tubulin polymerization and preventing depolymerization) - **Cisplatin** (a platinum-based DNA crosslinker that induces apoptosis by causing DNA damage) - **5-Fluorouracil (5-FU)** (an antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis) - **Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)** (a biologic growth factor used to stimulate the production of neutrophils and reduce the risk of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia) This regimen is primarily used in the treatment of advanced or metastatic gastrointestinal cancers such as gastric cancer, esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma, and esophageal cancer. The addition of G-CSF is intended to mitigate hematologic toxicity—especially neutropenia—associated with intensive multi-agent chemotherapy[1][2][3]. The combination has demonstrated significant antitumor activity and disease control rates in clinical trials for these indications.
