Overview

This combination is a multi-agent chemotherapy and biologic regimen composed of **paclitaxel** (a microtubule inhibitor), **cisplatin** and **carboplatin** (both platinum-based DNA crosslinking agents), and **bevacizumab** (a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A). Paclitaxel inhibits cell division by stabilizing microtubules. Cisplatin and carboplatin form DNA crosslinks that prevent DNA replication and transcription, inducing apoptosis. Bevacizumab binds VEGF-A, inhibiting angiogenesis essential for tumor growth. Each component is approved for use in various solid tumors, frequently in ovarian, cervical, and non-small cell lung cancer. These drugs are most often used in protocols that combine paclitaxel with either cisplatin or carboplatin plus bevacizumab, but rare regimens combining all four may be considered in investigational or off-label settings, especially for advanced gynecologic malignancies[1][3][4][6].
