Overview

This is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen combining four cytotoxic drugs: - Paclitaxel (a taxane that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division) - Cisplatin and Carboplatin (both platinum-based agents that cause DNA crosslinking and apoptosis) - A fluoropyrimidine (such as 5-fluorouracil or capecitabine, which inhibits thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis) These agents are used in various combinations for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, head and neck cancers, and others. The combination leverages different mechanisms to maximize antitumor activity. While doublet or triplet regimens with these drugs are common in clinical practice[1][2][6], the use of all four together is less standard but may be considered in investigational settings or for specific patient populations.
