Overview

Weekly TP-HDFL is a combination chemotherapy regimen developed by researchers at National Taiwan University Hospital for the treatment of advanced transitional cell carcinoma (TCC). The regimen consists of weekly administrations of paclitaxel, cisplatin, and a 24-hour infusion of high-dose 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) modulated by leucovorin. Paclitaxel acts as a microtubule stabilizer, cisplatin is a platinum-based DNA alkylating agent, and 5-fluorouracil is an antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase. Leucovorin is included to enhance the binding of 5-FU to its target enzyme. This specific combination aims to provide a high dose-intensity while maintaining a manageable toxicity profile for patients with advanced urothelial or transitional cell cancers.
