Overview

Paclitaxel + cyclophosphamide + carboplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen composed of three cytotoxic agents commonly used in the treatment of various cancers, particularly gynecologic and breast malignancies. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that inhibits cell division by promoting tubulin polymerization and preventing microtubule disassembly. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Carboplatin is a platinum-based compound that forms DNA adducts, resulting in inhibition of DNA synthesis and function. This combination exploits different mechanisms to maximize antitumor efficacy by targeting cancer cells at multiple points in the cell cycle.
