wP-EC is a sequential combination chemotherapy regimen primarily utilized in the neoadjuvant treatment of breast cancer, particularly HR+/HER2- subtypes. The regimen typically involves the administration of weekly paclitaxel (wP) followed by a combination of epirubicin and cyclophosphamide (EC). Paclitaxel, a taxane, works by stabilizing microtubules and inhibiting mitosis. Epirubicin is an anthracycline that interferes with DNA synthesis by intercalating between base pairs and inhibiting topoisomerase II. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that forms DNA cross-links, leading to cell death. In contemporary clinical trials, such as those conducted by Fudan University, this regimen serves as a standard-of-care backbone to which precision agents like adebrelimab, famitinib, or fluzoparib are added based on molecular subtyping (e.g., SNF classification).
