This is a combination of three distinct formulations of the antineoplastic agent, paclitaxel: conventional free-formulation, nanoparticle albumin-bound formulation, and liposomal encapsulated formulation. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that inhibits cell division by promoting tubulin polymerization and preventing microtubule depolymerization. The conventional form is poorly soluble and requires solvents like Cremophor EL, which can cause hypersensitivity reactions. Albumin-bound formulations (nab-paclitaxel) use human serum albumin nanoparticles to deliver the drug without solvent-related toxicity and exploit natural transport mechanisms such as gp60-mediated transcytosis and SPARC binding for enhanced tumor delivery[3][8][10]. Liposomal formulations encapsulate the drug in lipid bilayers to improve solubility, stability, pharmacokinetics, and reduce systemic toxicity[7][9]. All three are used primarily in oncology for solid tumors including breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, gastric cancer models[1][2].
