Overview

This is a combination of two anticancer drugs—paclitaxel (a microtubule inhibitor) and romidepsin (a class I histone deacetylase inhibitor). Paclitaxel disrupts cell division by stabilizing microtubules and preventing their depolymerization. Romidepsin inhibits histone deacetylases (HDACs), leading to increased acetylation of histones and non-histone proteins, resulting in altered gene expression that can induce apoptosis and inhibit tumor growth. The combination has shown synergistic effects in preclinical models of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC), effectively eliminating both primary tumors and metastatic lesions. Clinical trials are ongoing for metastatic IBC and advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma[1][2][3][4][6].
