Overview

Paclitaxel Actavis is a generic formulation of the taxane chemotherapy agent paclitaxel, a small molecule that promotes microtubule assembly and inhibits depolymerization. By binding to the beta-subunit of tubulin, paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules, which interferes with the dynamic reorganization of the microtubule network necessary for mitotic and interphase cellular functions. This stabilization leads to cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and subsequent apoptosis. While paclitaxel is a widely used antineoplastic agent for various malignancies, Paclitaxel Actavis is specifically utilized in clinical research, such as the Roche-sponsored BOUQUET trial (NCT04931381), which evaluates its efficacy in patients with rare histologies of epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancers that are persistent, recurrent, or platinum-resistant.
