Overview

Paclitaxel gelatin nanoparticles (PNP) is a nanoparticle formulation of the cytotoxic agent paclitaxel, developed by Optimum Therapeutics for the treatment of bladder cancer. The formulation utilizes gelatin nanoparticles to provide sustained therapeutic drug concentrations in the bladder tissue and urine, overcoming the dilution effects of urine production during intravesical therapy. PNP is also utilized as part of a 'tumor priming' platform, where low-dose paclitaxel is administered to enhance the delivery and efficacy of co-administered nanomedicines or siRNA therapeutics. It is currently in preclinical development for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
