Overview

Paclitaxel nanoparticles (PNP) is an investigational nanoparticle formulation of the taxane chemotherapy agent paclitaxel, developed by Optimum Therapeutics, LLC. It is designed for intravenous administration to treat solid tumors. The formulation is intended to be used in conjunction with the company's proprietary "Tumor Priming Technology," which aims to improve the delivery and penetration of nanomedicines into solid tumors by reducing interstitial fluid pressure. Paclitaxel itself is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that binds to the beta-subunit of tubulin, promoting microtubule assembly and preventing depolymerization. This action leads to mitotic arrest and subsequent apoptosis of cancer cells. The nanoparticle formulation is designed to enhance the pharmacokinetic profile and tumor accumulation of paclitaxel compared to standard formulations.
