Padeliporfin VTP is a minimally invasive oncology platform that combines the intravenous administration of padeliporfin—a water-soluble chlorophyll derivative and cytotoxic photosensitizer—with localized activation by non-thermal laser light. Upon illumination at a specific wavelength (753 nm), padeliporfin generates reactive oxygen species within the vasculature of the illuminated tumor area, leading to rapid vascular shutdown, local hypoxia, and subsequent tumor necrosis. This process also triggers an immune response in the target tissue. Padeliporfin remains largely confined to the circulation with minimal extravasation into surrounding tissues. The therapy is designed for focal treatment of solid tumors while preserving healthy tissue or organ function. It was first approved in Europe for low-risk prostate cancer and is under investigation for other solid tumors including upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) and pancreatic adenocarcinoma[1][2][3][4][5][6].
