Overview

Pae-PC1 is a therapeutic bacteriophage cocktail developed by the College of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Chinese PLA General Hospital. It is specifically designed to treat chronic *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* infections in patients with bronchiectasis. The cocktail consists of multiple lytic bacteriophages that target and destroy *P. aeruginosa* cells by binding to specific surface receptors, injecting their genetic material, and inducing bacterial lysis. This approach is intended to provide an alternative or adjunct to traditional antibiotic therapy, particularly for multi-drug resistant strains. It is typically administered via inhalation to target the site of infection in the lungs and has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for safety and efficacy in reducing pulmonary bacterial burden.
