Overview

Paiteling (also known as Paiteling Antibacterial Liquid or PTL) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) topical solution developed by Beijing Paderborn Biological Technology Co. Ltd. and evaluated in clinical trials by institutions such as The First Hospital of Jilin University. Approved in 1999 by the Chinese Ministry of Health, it is indicated for the treatment of high-risk and low-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, genital warts, and low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL). The drug is a complex herbal formulation containing extracts such as Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen). Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the HPV E6/E7-Pi3k/Akt signaling pathway, which induces apoptosis in infected cervical cells and suppresses viral oncoprotein expression. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials for the treatment of persistent cervical high-risk HPV infections.
