Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Paliroden is an orally active neurotrophic small molecule compound that stimulates the synthesis of endogenous neurotrophins. Preclinical studies indicate that it increases the formation of both neural progenitors and mature neurons. Paliroden is a non-peptidic agent and has been investigated for its potential use in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease[6][8]. Its mechanism involves activation of neurotrophin synthesis rather than direct neurotransmitter receptor modulation.
