Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The pan-ERR modulator program, under development by Pelagos Pharma, focuses on the discovery and optimization of small-molecule pan-modulators (specifically agonists) of estrogen-related receptor (ERR) nuclear receptors (ERRα, ERRβ, and ERRγ). Designed as 'exercise mimetics,' these compounds activate the same beneficial metabolic, mitochondrial, and structure-function pathways typically triggered by aerobic exercise. By promoting mitochondrial biogenesis, enhancing fatty acid oxidation, and improving cellular metabolism, the program aims to address diseases of aging, including heart failure, obesity/sarcopenia, and cognitive decline. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of lead optimization, building upon earlier tool compounds such as SLU-PP-332 and SLU-PP-915, with development candidate (DC) nomination projected for late 2027.
