Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Panamol is a generic formulation of paracetamol (acetaminophen) manufactured and marketed by Beacons Pharmaceuticals. It is a small molecule analgesic and antipyretic drug indicated for the temporary relief of fever and minor aches and pains. Panamol works primarily by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes within the central nervous system, which reduces prostaglandin synthesis. Additionally, it acts on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center to produce its antipyretic effect. It is approved as an over-the-counter medicine in Singapore and has been available in the market since 1991, primarily in a 500mg oral tablet form.
