Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Panax ginseng root oil is a botanical extract derived from the roots of *Panax ginseng* (Asian or Korean ginseng). It is primarily composed of unsaturated fatty acids (comprising 80-90% of the total fatty acid content), along with bioactive components such as phytosterols, polyacetylenes (e.g., panaxydol and panaxynol), and polyphenols. Research indicates that the oil may promote hair growth by activating the Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways. It has also been studied for potential applications in cardiovascular protection, anticancer activity, and the management of lower urinary tract symptoms. While utilized in various over-the-counter products and dietary supplements, it is not currently an FDA-approved pharmaceutical drug.
