Overview
Panax notoginseng flower, also known as Sanqi flower, is the dried inflorescence of *Panax notoginseng* (Burk.) F.H. Chen, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb primarily cultivated in the Yunnan and Guangxi provinces of China. The flower contains a high concentration of dammarane-type saponins, including ginsenosides (such as Rb1, Rc, and Rd) and notoginsenosides, which are distinct from those found in the root. In clinical research, it is being investigated for its neuroprotective, antidepressant, and antihypertensive properties. Specifically, it is studied for the treatment of major depressive disorder and acute ischemic stroke, where it is thought to modulate neurotransmitter systems and reduce oxidative stress and neuroinflammation.
