**Panblok-H5** is a recombinant hemagglutinin (rHA) vaccine candidate developed for pandemic influenza preparedness, specifically targeting the H5N1 avian influenza subtype. The active ingredient is rHA derived from the A/Indonesia/5/05 (H5N1) strain, produced using the baculovirus expression vector system in insect cells (Spodoptera frugiperda SF+ cells). It was designed as part of Protein Sciences Corporation's Panblok platform to enable rapid manufacturing without eggs, addressing limitations in traditional influenza vaccine production during pandemics. Preclinical studies demonstrated protection in birds against lethal H5 challenges, though human trials showed modest seroprotection rates without adjuvant, prompting evaluation with adjuvants like stable emulsion (SE), Advax, or oil-in-water emulsions to enhance immunogenicity. Clinical development included Phase 1/2 trials assessing safety and neutralizing antibody responses in healthy adults.[5][7][9][10]
