Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Panblok H7 + MF59 is a combination vaccine consisting of the recombinant hemagglutinin (rHA) antigen from the influenza A/H7 virus (Panblok H7) formulated with the oil-in-water emulsion adjuvant MF59. The vaccine is designed to induce an immune response against avian-origin influenza A(H7N9) and related strains. The addition of the MF59 adjuvant enhances immunogenicity by promoting stronger antibody responses and enabling antigen dose sparing compared to unadjuvanted formulations. Mechanistically, the rHA component elicits neutralizing antibodies targeting viral hemagglutinin, while the MF59 adjuvant acts by recruiting immune cells to the injection site and enhancing antigen presentation through induction of chemokines and cytokines[1][2][3]. This combination has been evaluated in clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in adults across various age groups[1][3][4].
