Overview
Pancha tikta ghee (Panchatikta Ghrita) is a traditional Ayurvedic polyherbal medicated clarified butter used for its anti-inflammatory, blood-purifying, and Lekhana (tissue-scraping) properties. It is composed of five bitter herbs: *Azadirachta indica* (Neem), *Tinospora cordifolia* (Guduchi), *Adhatoda vasica* (Vasa), *Trichosanthes dioica* (Patola), and *Solanum xanthocarpum* (Kantakari), processed in cow's ghee. The University of Colombo has investigated its efficacy in treating uterine fibroids (Garbhashaya Arbuda) as part of a 12-week Ayurvedic regimen. The formulation is hypothesized to work by balancing Kapha and Vata doshas, potentially inhibiting the growth of fibroid tissue and alleviating associated symptoms like menorrhagia.
