Overview

Pancrecarb is a pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) developed by Digestive Care, Inc. for the treatment of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), a condition frequently associated with cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, or surgical pancreatectomy. The product contains pancrelipase, a porcine-derived concentrate of essential digestive enzymes including lipase, amylase, and protease. Pancrecarb is uniquely formulated as enteric-coated microspheres that are bicarbonate-buffered. This specialized delivery system is designed to protect the enzymes from degradation by gastric acid while providing a localized alkaline environment in the duodenum, ensuring rapid enzyme activation and optimal intestinal bioavailability. By facilitating the hydrolysis of dietary fats, proteins, and carbohydrates into absorbable units, Pancrecarb helps alleviate malabsorption and improve the nutritional status of patients with impaired pancreatic function.
