Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pancrelipase protease + pancrelipase amylase + pancrelipase lipase is a **porcine-derived pancreatic enzyme replacement** product containing the digestive enzymes lipase, amylase, and protease, administered primarily by the oral route to replace deficient exocrine pancreatic secretions. It acts locally within the gastrointestinal lumen rather than through systemic receptor pharmacology: lipase hydrolyzes dietary triglycerides to absorbable fatty acids and monoglycerides, amylase hydrolyzes starches to oligosaccharides and sugars, and protease hydrolyzes proteins to peptides and amino acids. The combination is used mainly for **exocrine pancreatic insufficiency**, including that associated with cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatectomy, and other causes of pancreatic dysfunction. Multiple commercial formulations exist, largely developed and manufactured by different companies, with differing capsule or tablet presentations and enteric-coating characteristics.
