The pandemic flu H5 HA mRNA SD2 vaccine is a prophylactic, second-generation, structurally designed messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine developed to protect against avian influenza A(H5N1). The vaccine encodes the hemagglutinin (HA) glycoprotein of the H5 subtype, which is a major surface antigen of the influenza virus and a key target for neutralizing antibodies. Upon administration, the mRNA is taken up by host cells and translated into the viral HA protein, stimulating an immune response that includes both antibody production and T cell activation. This immunostimulant mechanism aims to provide protection against infection with circulating or emerging strains of H5N1 influenza. The primary indication for this vaccine is prevention of disease caused by avian influenza A(H5N1), particularly in preparation for or during pandemics[1][3][4].
