Overview

Pandemic influenza alphavaccine H1B + H5 is a bivalent RNA-based vaccine candidate developed by AlphaVax using its proprietary Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis (VEE) Replicon Particle (VRP) technology. The vaccine consists of non-propagating replicon particles that deliver self-amplifying RNA encoding the hemagglutinin (HA) antigens of H1B and H5 influenza strains. Upon administration, the VRPs deliver the genetic instructions into host cells, where the RNA replicates and expresses the target antigens. This process triggers a robust immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and the activation of T-cells, designed to provide rapid and effective protection against potential pandemic influenza strains. The candidate has been evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials.
