Overview

Sinovac's pandemic influenza inactivated vaccine, branded as Panflu, is an inactivated whole-virion vaccine developed for the prevention of H5N1 avian influenza. Developed in collaboration with the Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it was the first pandemic influenza vaccine approved in China. The vaccine is formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. It utilizes a reassortant H5N1 virus strain and has been evaluated in clinical trials (e.g., NCT00356798) demonstrating safety and the ability to meet international regulatory standards for influenza vaccines. It is primarily used for government stockpiling to prepare for potential H5N1 pandemics.
