Pandemic influenza vaccine + Matrix-M adjuvant (Sanofi)

This pandemic influenza vaccine candidate is a protein subunit vaccine being developed by Sanofi in collaboration with Novavax. It incorporates Novavax's proprietary Matrix-M adjuvant, a saponin-based technology designed to enhance the magnitude and durability of the immune response. The program is part of the U.S. pandemic preparedness efforts and has received funding from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). As of late 2025, the candidate is in early-stage development, with Sanofi holding a license to use Matrix-M through Phase 2 clinical trials. The vaccine is designed to provide protection against pandemic influenza strains by presenting recombinant protein antigens to the immune system in a highly immunogenic formulation.
