**GSK2340272A** is GSK's AS03-adjuvanted, egg-derived, inactivated split-virion pandemic influenza A H1N1 vaccine marketed in the European Union as **Pandemrix**. After mixing, the vaccine contains 3.75 micrograms of haemagglutinin from the A/California/7/2009 H1N1v-like strain X-179A plus the oil-in-water adjuvant system AS03, comprising squalene, DL-alpha-tocopherol, and polysorbate 80. It produces active immunity by eliciting immune responses against influenza A H1N1 viral antigens. Pandemrix received EU authorization for prophylaxis of influenza caused by A H1N1v 2009 but its marketing authorization expired on August 13, 2015 after GSK did not seek renewal because of lack of demand.
