Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pandrate L is a branded generic oral capsule developed and marketed by Suncure Lifescience, an Indian pharmaceutical company. It is a fixed-dose combination medication consisting of pantoprazole and levosulpiride. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach. Levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide and the levo-enantiomer of sulpiride, which acts as a selective antagonist of dopamine D2 receptors in both the central nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract. By blocking these receptors, levosulpiride exerts prokinetic effects, increasing lower esophageal sphincter tone and accelerating gastric emptying. This combination is primarily indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional dyspepsia, and other acid-related gastrointestinal disorders where impaired motility is a contributing factor.
