Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PaniDrop is an ophthalmic eye drop formulation of **PP-001**, a non-steroidal, immunomodulatory **small-molecule** inhibitor of **dihydroorotate dehydrogenase** designed for ocular surface diseases. The program originated at **Panoptes Pharma** and later became part of **Kiora Pharmaceuticals** through EyeGate's acquisition of Panoptes. PP-001 inhibits DHODH, a key mitochondrial enzyme in de novo pyrimidine synthesis, with the goal of suppressing pathologic immune activation and reducing inflammatory cytokine signaling relevant to ocular surface inflammation; company materials have also positioned the compound for **viral conjunctivitis** and **dry eye disease**. PaniDrop has been described as an ophthalmic nanocarrier-based formulation, and available company and trial disclosures indicate completion of **Phase 1** safety testing in healthy volunteers, with subsequent **Phase 2** proof-of-concept development in ocular surface inflammation associated with dry eye disease.
